Kota Inten Festival Rotterdam
I AM delighted to have had the opportunity to create this mural painting commissioned by the municipality of Rotterdam as part of the Moluccan project Kota Inten Festival funded through the program ‘Colonial and Slavery History and the City of Today.’ The mural serves as a reminder of the colonial and slavery history that Rotterdam shares with the Moluccas, fostering a connection between education and the city of Rotterdam. The first-generation Moluccans arrived at the Lloydkade in 1951 and I intentionally involved my children, who contributed to this mural painting. I am proud that this artwork represents not only a visual tribute but also a symbol of unity and remembrance in our shared history, connecting generations to come with the past.
